THE WAY Chiro is committed to providing accessible, dignified service to all patients, including people with disabilities. This statement sets out our commitment under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) and the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation.
Our commitment
We are committed to treating all people in a way that allows them to maintain their dignity and independence. We believe in integration and equal opportunity, and we are committed to meeting the needs of people with disabilities in a timely manner by identifying and removing barriers to accessibility.
Accessible customer service
We provide services in a manner that respects the dignity and independence of people with disabilities, and we will accommodate individual needs wherever we reasonably can. In practice, this means:
- Service animals are welcome in all areas of the clinic that are open to the public.
- Support persons are welcome to accompany you. We will never require you to be separated from your support person while receiving care.
- Assistive devices — you are welcome to use your own assistive devices while accessing our services.
- Communication — we will communicate with you in a way that takes your disability into account. If you need information in a different format, or need us to communicate differently, please tell us.
- Appointment flexibility — if you need a longer appointment, a specific time of day, or a modified approach to assessment or treatment, let us know when booking and we will accommodate where we reasonably can.
Our clinic
We are located at 2380 Bristol Circle, Unit 10, Oakville, with free on-site parking including designated accessible spaces in the plaza.
Notice of service disruption
If there is a planned or unexpected disruption to facilities or services that people with disabilities rely on, we will provide notice as soon as reasonably possible. Notice will include the reason for the disruption, its expected duration, and any alternative arrangements available. We will post notice at the clinic entrance and, where practical, on this website and through our booking system.
Website accessibility
We aim to make this website usable by as many people as possible. In building and maintaining it we have worked toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level AA as a standard, including:
- Descriptive alternative text on images
- Logical heading structure and semantic HTML
- Sufficient colour contrast for body text
- Keyboard-navigable links and controls
- Responsive layouts that work at increased text sizes and on mobile devices
- Descriptive link text rather than "click here"
As an organization with fewer than 50 employees, we are not legally required under the AODA's information and communications standard to meet WCAG on our website. We work toward it anyway, because it's the right thing to do and because accessible design serves everyone better.
We recognize this website is not perfect. Some older content and third-party components — including our external booking platform — may not fully meet these standards, and accessibility is something we treat as ongoing rather than finished.
Booking accessibility
Our online booking is provided by a third-party platform (Jane App), which we do not control. If you have difficulty using the online booking system for any reason, please call us at (365) 228-2506 and we will book your appointment directly. You will never be disadvantaged for booking by phone rather than online.
Training
Everyone who interacts with patients on our behalf is trained on accessible customer service, including how to interact with people with various types of disability, how to work with assistive devices, service animals and support persons, and what to do if someone is having difficulty accessing our services.
Feedback — we want to hear from you
If you encounter a barrier at our clinic or on this website, or have a suggestion for how we could do better, please tell us. Feedback is welcome by email, phone, in person, or in writing, and we will respond in the format you prefer.
